Hoelter Hall Trailhead (Near Soda Springs Rd.)
Join Headwaters Science Institute educators on July 27th for a naturalist hike on the Truckee Donner Land Trust trails surrounding Serene Lakes! We will meet at Hoelter Hall Trailhead at 10 am and prepare to depart for the hike. The group will hike along the Rowtan Peak trail, with stops to observe and learn about plants and animals that we find along the trail. We will have science equipment with us for participants to learn more about the flora and fauna. This hike is open to all ages (children under 15 need to have an adult with them), but please keep in mind this trail is rated as moderate by TDLT with some difficult sections. The full hike is 5 miles round trip with a 1,000 ft elevation gain. More information about the trail can be found at the Rowton Peak link above. We will plan to return to the parking lot by 2pm. We will have coffee and some breakfast snacks at the beginning of the hike, but please bring water and a lunch/snacks for the hike. We need all participants to register ahead of time so that we can be prepared.
