Serene Lakes Cooking Club (SLCC) Minutes 8-30-03 The SLCC barbecue demonstration of 8/30/03 had record breaking attendance. More than 50 people attended. Based on the attendees’ feedback, the success of this demonstration can be directly attributed to Marc Snider and Judy Lieb. Marc’s passion for barbequing was evident. His demonstration was not only informative, but extremely entertaining. Judy’s generosity of allowing us to use her home was very much appreciated. As they say, "the proof is in the pudding." Marc’s salt encrusted prime rib and pork ribs were fabulous. Judy’s boogie beans and teriyaki chicken were a hit. The "Osso di Morto" cookies disappeared quickly. The SLCC attendees’ side dishes were a great and tasty accompanied to the barbecue. RC brought rare peaches, "Indian peaches," and gave us a quick overview about the peaches. Lastly, I gave a quick overview of ‘rice paper.’ Excuse the pun, but we had a "full plate." The recipes presented at this demonstration will be posted on the SLPOA website in the very near future. Upcoming demos/events: · October 18, 2003 5 p.m. -- Wine 101 -- Presentation by Dave Lose· November 15, 2003 (time tbd) – Holiday treats -- Demonstration by Patty Daffurn· December (date and time tbd) – Fondue – to be hosted by Ed and Kathy Bubnis.I will send out the invitations to request RSVPs as we near the dates. Since the barbecue demonstration proved to be very popular, Marc Snider has graciously offered to provide this demo annually, on Labor Day week-end. Because of the large attendance, we will probably use Lot #1. This, however, will not replace the Serene Lakes Labor Day week-end barbecue. |
