SLCC Meeting Minutes 11.13.04The Hungarian Demo hosted by Rudy and Anne Knudsen was incredible. There were over 15-people who attended. Our guest Chef Alex Horvath created several authentic Hungarian dishes. For our benefit, he created them from scratch, allowing us to see step-by-step how each dish is made.Note: All the recipes will be posted on the SLPOA website. Alex created our first dish which was an appetizer dish called "Shepherd's Spread." Don't even ask me how to write it in Hungarian. Our second course was a rustic Hungarian country soup made with bacon and paprika. For our main course, Alex made Chicken Paprikash accompanied by a sweet vinagarett cucumber salad. Anne showed us how to make a Hungarian Spaetzle. She demo'd how to shape the spaetzle by simply using a spoon as well as with a spaetzle maker Alex brought from Hungary. Lastly, we had "palachintas" which are stuffed crepes (with apples this time). Everything was yum, yum good!!! Although we expected just "taster" amounts, we were pleasantly surprised to have full courses. Special thanks to Rudy, Ann and Alex for hosting such a wonderful demo and feast. Happy Cooking, -rd- P.S. Be on the look out for the next SLCC invitation scheduled in December. It will be our annual Holiday Fondue party. |
