Jennifer’s Serene Lakes Scones

cups Flour
½ cup Sugar
2 ½ tsp. Baking Powder
½ tsp. Salt
½ tsp. Soda
¾ cup cold Butter
1 cup Butter Milk
Preheat
oven to 425 degrees. Sift all dry
ingredients together. Cut cold
butter into flour with a pastry blender or with a Kitchen Aide using a paddle.
Gradually add buttermilk. On
a floured surface roll out dough about 2 inches thick.
Cut into any shape you wish: diamond,
squares, or rounds.
Using a cookie sheet spray a little non-stick spray.
Brush with cream or egg wash, and sprinkle with “rough sugar”
(optional). Bake for 15-minutes.
Variations:
You
can add ½ cup nuts, raisins, dried fruits, or chocolate chips.
You can also use extracts to give a distinct flavor (e.g., almond, lemon,
etc.)
